This former Rams player earned the All-UFL team—can you believe that?

Bobby Evans, a former offensive tackle at Oklahoma, was not immediately added to the roster after the LA Rams selected him in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. But the Rams knew they only had so much time left in the veteran left tackle Andrew Whitworth’s career, and they also knew they needed more offensive line depth following their exhausting Super Bowl LIII trip and loss.

Evans would have the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities as a rookie, appearing in nine games for the Rams in 2019 and starting seven of them. In reality, throughout four seasons, Bobby Evans appeared in 35 games for the team, starting 12 of them. However, the 6-foot-4, 312-pound offensive tackle was not an ideal fit.

Perhaps Evans’ versatility as an offensive lineman prevented him from settling into a specific role. Perhaps it was the level of competition on the Rams roster, as well as the daunting task of meeting former Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald on a daily basis during practice.

Maybe Bobby Evans was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Whatever the case, the Rams waived him before his contract ended at the end of the 2022 NFL season, and Evans sought to carve out a niche for himself with the Minnesota Vikings and subsequently the Jacksonville Jaguars. With each team, he was unable to carve out a distinct role.

But there’s a happy ending to this tale.

A question of confidence seems to be the component lacking during his tenure. Bobby Evans had all he needed to be successful. However, those instruments did not come easily. He appeared to be overanalyzing his assignments. That is, until he signed on with the UFL’s Arlington Renegades.

Bobby Evans is one of the UFL’s biggest stars right now, and for good reason. You know, he was proud to be named to the first-ever All-UFL Teams.

I believe there are very few people on the planet—possibly as few as one—who can claim both a Super Bowl ring and a spot on the All-UFL team. That speaks much about the man Bobby Evans has developed into. In spite of obstacles, he has persisted in putting in a lot of effort to fulfill his objective.

I am more of a Bobby Evans fan than I have ever been. I am also rooting for the Arlington Renegades by association. Evans is fulfilling his desire of playing football, while not being able to fulfill his dream of playing with the Los Angeles Rams. That truly displays one’s love for football.
