Benedict Vilakazi has heaped praise on Orlando Pirates teenage phenom Relebohile Mofokeng following his performances for the club during the just concluded season.

The 19-year-old has had an incredible breakthrough season, going on trial in England’s Premier League, receiving an international call-up, and scoring the winning goal in a cup final.

With the last whistle blowing in Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final against Mamelodi Sundowns, Mofokeng received the ball in the 18-yard area from Monnapule Saleng and twisted his way past Bongani Zungu before sending the ball past Ronwen Williams to give Pirates the victory.

Mofokeng’s goal in the final for Ezimnyama ngenkani exikaMagebhula was so outstanding that Vilakazi compared the youngster’s movement to Brazilian and Real Madrid legend Ronaldo.

‘He’s not afraid of anything’
“As soon as that ball got to him, I knew something would happen,” Vilakazi told iDiski Times.

“I knew because he has no fear of anything. I expected him to try to bend it right away, but when he attempted to dribble, Zungu… That’s excellent,” Vilakazi continued.

“You know, good players, like Ronaldo of Brazil, didn’t care when they were in that situation; if he’s there, and it needs a toe, stick it in.

“I was surprised he didn’t start the game since this boy has been on the song for so long that we are still screaming his name, and he is not there where we need to dance. However, the coach introduced him later.
