JUST IN: Another Alohog joins the Razorbacks

Kuhio Aloy, the younger brother of University of Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy, has committed to joining the Razorbacks’ squad in 2025.

Kuhio Aloy, a member of the Big 12 All-Freshman team at BYU this season, announced on social media that he will transfer to Arkansas.

“Happy Alohog Friday Hawaiians!!!” Aloy wrote. “Committed!!! Let’s go!! Yessah!!!”

Aloy used the hashtags #brohogs and #RazorbackBSB in his post on X. The post showed Kuhio Aloy in a hype video wearing a Razorback shirt, backed by the song “Country Boy” by Maoli, which features Fiji. His jersey number, 25, which is part of his X handle, was prominently displayed in the 23-second video.

Aloy, a 6-1 true freshman from Maui, Hawaii, batted.269 with eight home runs and a team-high 38 RBI this season for the Cougars (21-31), who finished bottom in the Big 12 with a 7-23 record. He made 50 starts, 46 at designated hitter and four at first base, appeared in all 52 games, and finished with a.447 slugging percentage and.329 on-base percentage. In high school, Aloy played right-handed pitcher, first base, and outfield.

Aloy homered in his first two games with the Cougars, an 8-1 victory over Southern California and a 7-2 loss to Ohio State at the MLB Desert Invitational in Mesa, Arizona. He was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team after being in the top three in home runs and RBI among league freshman. He also tied for the Big 12 lead in sacrifice flies, with seven.

Wehiwa Aloy, a sophomore transfer from Sacramento State this season, hit.270 with 14 home runs and 56 RBI to lead the Razorbacks (44-16), who were eliminated from the NCAA Fayetteville Regional last weekend. Wehiwa Aloy was a Freshman All-American and Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year at Sacramento State in 2023.

UA authorities did not have Kuhio Aloy’s transfer papers as of Friday morning, and Coach Dave Van Horn was unable to comment on the announcement.
