Orlando Pirates full back Bandile Shandu appears set to stay with the club.

Shandu battled for game time last season, with reports indicating that his time with the club was up.

Last season, the fast utility defender appeared in only 16 games for Jose Riveiro’s side.

Shandu was particularly concerned by the fact that only seven of his 16 appearances were in the starting lineup.

Initial reports stated that the former Maritzburg United player could be on his way to SuperSport United as a free agent, but his representation has since flatly denied that allegation.

Shandu’s current contract with the Orlando Pirates is still valid for one year, according to his agent Mike Makaab.

The veteran agent went on to provide some clarity on Shandu’s situation at the Mayfair based club. Take a look at the details below.

SHANDU HAS ONE YEAR LEFT ON HIS CONTRACT WITH ORLANDO PIRATES – MAKAAB.

“I don’t know where the rumors come from because Bandile Shandu’s contract with Pirates expires in June 2026,” Makaab stated to iDiski Times.

“He is happy at the club, and the club is pleased with him. He has been dealing with an injury. He is currently in the middle of his rehabilitation program.

Shandu has made 87 appearances with the Buccaneers since joining in 2021. Transfermarkt values him at around R17 million.

In other news, Orlando Pirates’ Relebohile Mofokeng has had a remarkable journey to football glory.

Just 14 months ago, the teenager has yet to make his senior debut with the club.

Mofokeng was promoted to the Buccaneers first team at the start of last season. Mofokeng has appeared 40 times for the club since his debut in March 2023!

The Orlando Pirates prodigy has already scored six goals and assisted seven others for the club.

“According to the insider, Orlando Pirates have turned their attention to the 19-year-old’s contract with the club,” a report from Soccer Laduma stated.

“It is expected to see a big change with better terms proposed by the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers are believed to be interested in signing the Vaal-born star, as well as rewarding him for his efforts this season.

“Whispers of a new five-year contract has also been doing the rounds, though talks are believed to be underway.”
