JUST IN: The Rams’ greatest trades ever!

NFL

The Los Angeles Rams overhauled their roster this summer and want to return to the playoffs in 2024. One year after a terrible 5-12 season, the Rams entered the playoffs but were defeated by former franchise quarterback Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions in a close game.

The Rams will be without Aaron Donald going forward, as the great defensive tackle announced his retirement from the NFL earlier this offseason. Sean McVay remains a solid coach in Los Angeles, and the offense is dangerous, with quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, and running backs Kyren Williams and rookie Blake Corum. Los Angeles has cause to be optimistic about their chances of making the playoffs again.

However, their lineup isn’t without flaws. A few injuries at the correct locations might jeopardize the Rams’ season. As a result, Los Angeles could consider signing depth players before training camp to help fill out their squad.

We’ll go over three probable trade targets for the Rams to examine in the coming weeks. These players all fill critical needs for the Rams and should be relatively straightforward to obtain through trade.

Let’s get to it.

Dyami Brown – WR – Washington Commanders

Dyami Brown is a former third-round choice who has not lived up to expectations. He is no longer playing for the regime that recruited him, which puts Brown in a difficult position. Brown is in the final year of his rookie contract, which makes him less desirable to a Washington team that is rebuilding for the future. Trading Brown for a draft selection before the season is the best way to extract some value from him.

Meanwhile, the Rams have an unexpectedly large need for wide receiver depth. Kupp and Nacua are fantastic starting receivers, but the depth after them appears poor. Demarcus Robinson and Tutu Atwell are the greatest backup alternatives, having appeared in multiple games previously. However, they have both been in the doghouse before. If either Kupp or Nacua sustained a long-term injury, it would be a major setback for LA’s attack. Adding Dyami Brown to the roster would provide the Rams with extra wide receiver options while also protecting them from injury.

If the Rams like what they see in Dyami Brown, they may even re-sign him to a reasonable second deal following the 2024 season.

Los Angeles should seriously explore such a move, as long as they do not have to give up too much.

Larry Borom – T – Chicago Bears

The Rams have made significant upgrades in the offensive line this offseason. However, their tackle depth is somewhat dubious. They appear good at right tackle with Rob Havenstein and Joe Noteboom, but they might use some help on the left side behind Alaric Jackson.

Larry Borom of Chicago could be the ideal economic trade partner. The Bears no longer have a strong need for Borom after replacing him with Braxton Jones and drafting Kiran Amegadjie this year.

Borom is a solid, but not spectacular, backup tackle who can play on either side of the offensive line. Previously, he played right tackle, but the Bears tried him out as left tackle in 2023. Last season, Borom started six games for Chicago and had a handful of excellent pass blocking performances.

Larry Borom is also at the end of his current contract, so he would likely come cheap in a potential trade.

James Bradberry – CB – Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles selected two defensive backs in the 2024 NFL draft. They have also earned glowing reviews for former Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers. Suddenly, the Eagles have an abundance of cornerbacks.

Bradberry could be the CB Philly wants to trade due to his deal. He is now in the middle of a three-year, $38 million contract that could expire in 2025. His cap hit in 2024 is only $4.31 million, which the Rams should be able to handle.

The Rams could sorely use another starting-caliber cornerback to complement Tre’Davious White. If Bradberry joins the Rams, he will most likely become the team’s new starting cornerback for the next few years.

As long as Los Angeles is willing to pay Bradberry’s salary, they should call Philadelphia. This prospective trade might benefit both teams.
