DONE DEAL: The Star Player Signs A New Deal With The UJ women….
The homegrown winger Jessica Naz has signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur Women that would keep her with the team until 2027. The new contract completes Jess’s stellar season, in which she scored nine goals, provided four assists, and made her maiden (stand-by) Lionesses call-up in all competitions for Spurs and England U23s.
spent time in Spurs’ academy before joining Arsenal, where she made her first senior appearance replacing Heather O’Reilly (sorry as an American I had to shoehorn in this bit of trivia). Jess returned to the correct North London team in 2018, though she suffered a terrible knee injury and a lengthy spell on the sidelines not long after. Jess had moments of brilliance under Rehanne Skinner (notably a goal and an assist leading to a player of the month nomination in December 2021, and a stunning brace in 2022’s 8-0 victory against Brighton), but she’s really seemed to thrive in Robert Vilahamn’s setup in positions all across the front line. It’s been incredible to see her become one of this year’s quickest rising stars in a league that’s more competitive than ever, and at just 23 years of age, she has even more growing to do.
The Spurs Women’s contracting strategy has changed as a result of Jess’ three-year agreement. Only the best players signed two-year contracts until recently, with the majority of players having one-year contracts. Longer contracts for players result in more stability for them as well as increased capacity for the club to schedule transfer windows.
