Burnley have swooped to sign striker Andreas Hountondji on a four-year deal from Caen in preparation for life back in the Championship.
Burnley, Leeds United’s Championship rivals, have strengthened their front line by signing striker Andreas Hountondji from Caen for four years.
The Benin international has signed with Turf Moor for an undisclosed sum, believed to be £3.4 million. During his loan stint with the Ligue 2 club last season, he scored 16 goals in all competitions for Rodez.
Hountondji, who was born in Montry, can play anywhere on the front line. Hountondji stated, “I chose to come here because of the big interest shown by the club.”
“Because it’s a club that gives young players opportunities, one of the main reasons I chose to play here is that I love English football. I had a productive conversation with Scott Parker, the boss, recently.
It was perfect for me because we talked about our values, our principles, and the way we play.” It has been a bustling day for Burnley, with goalkeeper Arijanet Muric joining Ipswich Town for an undisclosed charge.
The four-year contract has been signed by the Kosovo international of Swiss descent. Muric joins Omari Hutchinson, Liam Delap, Ben Johnson, and Jacob Greaves as their fifth summer signing.
“I’m eager to have joined the club and am anticipating beginning,” Muric told TownTV. “This is the perfect move for me because I watched how the team played last season and believe the style will suit me very well.”
