The team led by Michael Carrick has spent heavily in an attempt to contend for a return to the Premier League.
Tommy Conway has officially joined Middlesbrough from Bristol City ahead of their Saturday match against Derby County (12.30pm kickoff).
The striker has agreed to a four-year contract; the exact amount is unknown, although reports place it around £4.5 million.
The Scotland international, who scored 12 goals the previous season and won Bristol City’s Young Player of the Year award, was training with the under-21s in the summer after being cut from Liam Manning’s plans.
In nearly 100 games for the Robins, he has scored 25 goals. Last month, he was a member of the Scotland team that went to the Euros.
Conway’s signing in time for tomorrow’s Pride Park match seems uncertain, but Michael Carrick, the head coach of Boro, stated: “We’re delighted to bring Tommy in.” He’s at a terrific age, full of promise, and we can’t wait to work with him.
He’s a terrific addition to the team and has a ton of championship experience already.
Conway follows Luke Ayling, Delano Burgzorg, Aidan Morris, and Micah Hamilton through the Riverside door as the team’s sixth summer signing.
