ARIZONA – – The Arizona Cardinals are set to go this end of the week to fight the Denver Mustangs in their preseason finale, and the host group won’t highlight their beginning quarterback.
From ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
“Mustangs newbie QB Bo Nix won’t play in Denver’s preseason finale versus the Cardinals. Mustangs QB Jarrett Stidham will begin against the Cardinals before Zach Wilson replaces him,” composed Schefter on Twitter.
“I might want to see (Stidham) get 8 to 12 plays, and afterward we’ll get a ton of work with Zach (starting) eventually in that first or early second quarter,” said Mustangs HC Sean Payton (h/t Schefter).
Nix – Denver’s first-round pick in the current year’s draft – was as of late named the starter by Payton.
“Bo will begin and we’ve sort of gone through our cycle,” Payton recently told reportes.
“In the earliest reference point, all things considered, simply talking with George (Paton) and Greg (Penner) and understanding that in many cases these things deal with themselves. We’re not in that frame of mind to show up at choices like that. We need to see it. What’s more, I believe it’s significant, comparative with the group, that we handle it that way. He’s been remarkable.
“Clearly, there’s a lot of space for development, there’s a ton of things that he really wants to chip away at. I’ve proactively talked with each of the three of those folks. Stiddy will be an extraordinary asset for him, as well as Zach. We just, we feel like that offseason, it’s a particularly significant position, we pursued a few great choices and we will get an opportunity to see them unfurl as the season goes on.”
The Cardinals additionally won’t highlight their beginning quarterback in Kyler Murray, who has not played at this preseason. Arizona will highlight Clayton Tune (who is supposed to begin) with Desmond Ridder filling in for the final part.
As of late, Cardinals lead trainer Jonathan Gannon lauded Murray for the steps he’s made this offseason:
“I think from a psychological and actual point of view, this moment where he’s at, to in any event, when he got back last year or even where he completed last year, I believe he’s a wide margin ahead,” Gannon said.
“What I am familiar with the person, my relationship with him when I landed his position: His will to win is very high. Also, assuming you detail out and spread out for him what is required from him to work on himself, the offense and the group, he is 1,000 percent able to do that. Thus, I love the person, since he’s finished all that I’ve requested from him and the sky is the limit from there.”
Mustangs Cardinals will the opening shot at 1:30 PM Arizona time on Sunday.
