DONE DEAL: Just In: Derby County adds yet another outstanding Leicester City player.

Tawanda Chirewa, who is joining the Rams on loan from Wolves, was signed by Derby County on Monday.

Paul Warne has now signed ten summers in a row. But before the August 30th transfer deadline, the Rams’ manager appears eager to add a few more big names to Pride Park.

Even though Derby County defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 earlier in the month, there is still a feeling that the team may have a difficult 2024–25 Championship season.

Following a recent recruitment meeting at Derby County, supporters believe that Warne lacks quality in multiple areas of the pitch, which may compel the club’s recruitment team to make a last-ditch effort.

Similar to the Chirewa deal, Derby County and many other Championship clubs may turn their attention to Premier League loans in the closing days of the window.

Furthermore, it appears that Leicester City is prepared to loan away several of their gifted young players, with the Rams being one of the teams involved.

Derby County is competing to sign a trio on loan from Leicester City.
According to journalist Darren Witcoop, Leicester City intends to loan out a few of its young players to the Championship starting this week.

Tom Cannon, Ben Nelson, and Kasey McAteer are a few of the names predicted to go.

McAteer, who recently secured a new contract with the Foxes, was linked to a loan deal with Hull City and Cardiff City earlier this summer.

center-back Nelson and Cannon have both been connected to Sunderland.

Witcoop indicated that Derby is one of the teams watching the aforementioned Leicester City players in the post by tagging #DCFC.
Derby County’s chances of landing a prospective deal with Leicester City are quite slim.
This week, three intriguing names could be sent out on loan, possibly even to Derby County.

All three would give Pride Park’s roster championship caliber players, although a deal involving Cannon appears improbable.

The Irishman was acquired by Leicester City for £8 million from Everton in the summer of last year. This week, Sunderland submitted a £5 million proposal for him.

Derby County doesn’t appear like it will have a chance there because other Championship clubs are anticipated to enter the competition; however, agreements for McAteer and Nelson might have a better chance.

Particularly Nelson, the 20-year-old center back who only made five appearances for Leicester in the Championship last season after coming through their junior system, lacks first-team experience.

McAteer, an attacker, scored six goals in 23 league appearances.

A signing by Nelson or McAteer to Derby would be beneficial for Warne as it would provide further depth and talent in advance of a lengthy Championship campaign.
