Bristol City player ratings versus Derby: Robins defense collapses during a thrashing at Pride Park

Derby County

The powerful Derby County team soundly defeated Bristol City, losing 3-0 Max O’Leary – 6.
In what specific way can you accurately score him? In addition to giving up three goals and almost letting Nathaniel Mendez-Laing score as he sprinted out of his box, City’s No. 1 made a number of incredible stops, including a truly amazing double stop to keep out Jerry Yates and Eiran Cashin at point blank range.

George Tanner: 4
Never really had a lid on Mendez-Laing defensively, something you don’t say about Tanner too often. That, along with his lack of connection with Sykes, made for a difficult afternoon, which was exacerbated by the game’s stretching in the second half and a lot of his sideline issues.

Kal Naismith – 4

Wasn’t attacked 1vs1 as much as Vyner and there were some fine moments on the ball, not counting the near-catastrophein the first half where he just gave it to a Derby player on the edge of the box, but there was never any sense of calm or stability in the Robins backline and he ultimately contributes towards that.

am Pring – 4.
did, as you might imagine, get forward more frequently than Tanner, but the winning ball was missing, with crosses either overhit or unable to find their target.

Joe Williams: 5
It was one of those days when David Ozoh and Ebou Adams’ strength simply won too many of his clashes against him across the field. tried to keep things going, but as the game progressed, City found themselves fighting against more and more resistance.

Jason Knight: 5
Williams-like in terms of application and effort, but maybe more deft with the ball. Nevertheless, Knight only found himself being more and more subjugated to the strength and physicality of the Derby pair in front of him.
Mark Sykes: 5
Despite always being accessible and offering lots of width, he was unable to consistently make an impact on the game in the latter third. did attempt a shot just wide of the post in the second half, but Callum Elder managed to keep him at bay for the most part. did not give Tanner sufficient defensive support either.

Max Bird: 4
Though he got into several advantageous situations to hit the Rams, it was not a pleasant return to Pride Park as either the last throw was

Scott Twine: 5
drew the wrath of the Derby supporters during the match after making repeated complaints about strong tackles that the referee didn’t always call. Things usually went his way when he got the ball, but following a strong start, he began to lose interest in the game’s general tempo. had a fantastic opportunity to score in the first half, but the outstanding Widell Zetterstrom stopped it.

Armstrong Sinclair – 6
From a performance standpoint, this was maybe better since he really examined Curtis Nelson and bumped and banged his way into space. The issue is that he had two excellent scoring opportunities in that other game, but twice he was eliminated with only Widell Zetterstrom standing in his way.

Substitutes

Fally Mayulu (for Armstrong, 64) – 5

Put himself about and glanced one header over the bar but was often starved of space.

Brought some extra craft to the final third and created an opportunity for Sykes.

Yu Hirakawa (for Sykes, 83) – N/A

Nahki Wells (for Twine, 83) – N/A
