Angel Reese, a forward for the Chicago Sky, had a fantastic rookie season, but sadly, it was cut short on Saturday when she announced her season-ending injury on social media. After getting hurt on Friday against the Los Angeles Sparks, Reese will now have surgery on Tuesday to heal her left wrist. It turns out that many fans were mistaken when they believed they knew precisely when the injury happened during the game.

Reese used Instagram Live to talk with her fans about her relationship status and the injury shortly after the Sky’s victory over the Dallas Wings on Sunday. The former LSU Tigers star said on live television that she broke her wrist after tripping and falling after a and-one shot, but she couldn’t recall which quarter it happened in.

After more investigation, it was discovered that Reese only ever made a and-one basket once, during the Sparks game, and that was when Los Angeles center Li Yueru fouled her at the three-minute mark of the third quarter. After the injury, Reese continued to play for an additional ten minutes before being taken out of the game with just over three minutes left. With 24 points, 12 rebounds, and a 92-78 triumph, she concluded her final game.

With their victory on Sunday, the Sky are now guaranteed a spot in the WNBA playoffs because to Reese’s departure. They are currently holding the eighth and final seed. Guard Chennedy Carter will need to play a bigger role if Chicago hopes to make the playoffs.
