On Thursday, the Miami Heat revealed that they had signed G-League affiliate Caleb Daniels from Sioux Falls Skyforce to an NBA Exhibit 10 contract.
Which enables Daniels to compete for a two-way contract and take part in Miami’s training camp. After graduating from Villanova, Daniels signed with the Miami Heat for the 2023 Summer League after going undrafted in 2023. Prior to the 2023–24 season, he was waived, and in October of 2023, he joined Skyforce.
At St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, Daniels led his team to the Division I semifinals while averaging 19 points and 12 rebounds as a senior. He also earned All-Metro and second-team all-state honors. He worked out for the Boston Celtics and was committed to Tulane. As a sophomore, he averaged 16.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists before transferring to Villanova. Despite overcoming obstacles such as a COVID-19 diagnosis and myocarditis while attending Villanova, he excelled in his super-senior season, scoring 14.2 points and 4.2 rebounds. After Nassir Little inked a one-year contract with the Heat, Daniels was added to Miami’s training camp roster as number twenty-one.

Daniels’ Season With Skyforce in 2023–2024
Daniels played in 31 games with the Skyforces last season, starting 22 of them. Playing 31.5 minutes a game, he averaged 12.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. He shot 43.4% from the field, 34.5% from three-point range, and 85% from the free-throw line. During that season, he scored in double figures 21 times and had six games with 20 points or more, including a run of four straight 20-point games from February 13 to February 25. In 14 games, Daniels also scored double digits twice and nailed a number of three-pointers, including a season-high six against the OKC Blue on February 13.
Following that, Daniels participated in the Heat’s summer training camp and made seven appearances in Summer League games, including the team’s quest for the NBA2K25 Summer League championship in Las Vegas. In each game, he averaged 5.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.2 steals. With just three turnovers in seven games, he maintained an impressive assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.0 and finished the Summer League with a +14 net difference.
Daniels Gives Miami’s Backcourt Depth
With 11 guards on the roster, the Heat had already stacked the backfield line before signing Daniels. Erik Spoelstra, the team’s coach, is anticipated to limit Daniels’ playing time while the group is healthy and ready to go back to preseason training camp. However, given his recent acquisition and steady shooting output, he might serve as a valuable backup for the Heat in the event of an injury crisis.
It is evident that Daniels is in the proper location to thrive after the Heat recruited a few successful role players from the NBA G-League.
