This is the most recent information from the treatment table as Derby County prepares for their upcoming Championship assignment at the Stadium of Light tomorrow night.
Derby County’s credentials for the Championship will be put to the test one more tomorrow night when they take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Despite losing to Watford over the weekend, the Black Cats have had an incredible start to the season and are currently second in the table behind West Brom.
Derby is also trying to recover after Norwich City ended their perfect home record at Pride Park, albeit under dubious circumstances.
Derby has not won a point away from home this year, and they also have some injury issues to deal with. Tom Barkhuizen, Liam Thompson, Jake Rooney, Callum Elder, and David Ozoh are all recovering from injuries, and this is when they should return as the Rams get ready for what could be an exciting game against the Black Cats.
Elder Callum
The Australian appeared uncomfortable when he left the game against Sheffield United in the second half, and scans later revealed that he had sustained a groin injury. It is unfortunate that the Australian, who was playing well for Leicester and Hull City before leaving for the international break, will not be returning until after the break.
David Ozoh
Similar to Elder, Ozoh’s hamstring strain will keep him out until after the upcoming international break. Having joined on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace, he has been one of the season’s star players and will be a huge asset when he returns.
He stated, “He is going to be gone for a while, obviously.” Warne declared, “We will not see him this side of the international break.”
It is clear that he has hamstring damage. It was harmless. He just went down after it was merely a pass to the side.
It is common knowledge that a player who goes down like that, alone and unaccompanied, will be out for some time, so you should be ready for the worst.
“The news is not too bad, but it will take five to six weeks. I kind of thought things may have been worse at one point, but he seems fine to me. I do not think the fact that he will not be playing on Saturday has really hit him. He is well in himself, but I believe it will hit him then.”
Barkhuizen, Tom
Prior to the victory over Cardiff City, the winger felt pain in his calf during a warm-up during practice. Although it was anticipated he would return sooner rather than later, Warne stated over the weekend that he did not anticipate his return in time for tomorrow night’s game against the Black Cats.
The Liam Thompson
After taking a shot in the closing stages of the training session, the academy graduate injured his groin, and it is not thought that he will recover in time for the international break.
Rooney Jake
The defender has been back on the field with his teammates and is progressing well. It will not be shocking to see him play for the under-21s in order to assist him gain match fitness; he will need minutes to catch up.
