The Seattle Seahawks signed lineman Jason Peters to their practice squad on Tuesday, the organization announced. The team needed help on the offensive line.
After making eight appearances with the Seahawks at right tackle during the 2023 season, including two starts, Peters, 42, is back with the team. The Seahawks were suffering with a number of offensive line ailments when Peters signed with them.
The unit has been impacted by injuries once more in 2024. Due to a knee injury, Abe Lucas, who began the season at left tackle, has been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. It is unclear when he will return. On September 20, backup George Fant—who also has a knee issue—was placed on injured reserve. Before Fant is allowed to play again, he needs to miss two more games.
After a rough showing in Week 1, third-string tackle Stone Forsythe has improved significantly, but the Seahawks need insurance at the position.
Throughout his career, Peters has played for five different teams and has started 221 of the 248 games in which he has featured. Throughout the course of his 19-year career, he has also been named to the Pro Bowl nine times and is a six-time All-Pro.
As of right present, Peters is the league’s oldest player. Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, was the oldest player in the NFL at 40.
