Los Angeles Ken Goldin, the head of the auction firm that sold Shohei Ohtani’s record 50th home run ball, said the winner of the ball is from Asia.
The ball sold Tuesday night “for a new all-time record” of $4.4 million, according to Goldin, CEO of Goldin Auctions. However, according to Goldin, the Ohtani ball is not your typical baseball.
“On a night [when] he had three home runs, 10 RBIs, went 6-for-6 with two stolen bases, and he did it on a night [when] he joined the 50 steals/50 home run club, this baseball is the actual 50th home run baseball,” Goldin stated. “It was the greatest single game offensive performance in history.”

Millions of people were watching the auction page, over 1,000 individuals had registered to buy, 40 bids were active from five different countries, including the U.S. and Japan, and more than two bidders were ultimately vying for the ball, according to Goldin.
Goldin stated, “The individual purchasing this ball wants to be a part of history and loves baseball and what transpired.”
According to Goldin, he made an agreement to sell the ball at auction with the man who caught it and two other individuals who have sued for allegedly selling it.

Regarding the auction winner, Goldin remarked, “This person is going to pay us the money,” “We will pass the ball to him. He is finished. He is done for all eternity. Goldin Auctions will always be in business.
The three parties who claimed possession of the ball prior to the auction will then need to decide whether and how to divide the money when it is hosted in Miami, according to Goldin. “They can fight it out in Miami court, or they can agree on a divide or a settlement,” Goldin stated. Until they do that, Miami will withhold their funds.
According to Goldin, the winner of the ball will be disclosed after attending the World Series in New York and Los Angeles.
