Pittsburgh attempted to sign another well-known wide receiver, but a deal is unattainable given the Rams’ recent success.
You can not say that the Pittsburgh Steelers did not put in enough effort to acquire a well-known wide receiver prior to the NFL trade deadline.
We found out that Omar Khan contacted the 49ers regarding a trade for a top receiver at the 2024 NFL Draft. One of the first teams to approach Davante Adams when he became available was Pittsburgh. These were not the only unsuccessful wide receiver trade attempts.
According to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer on Sunday, the Steelers contacted the Los Angeles Rams “a month ago” regarding a trade for Cooper Kupp.
They have started making phone calls. On FOX NFL Kickoff, Glazer stated, “They even called around about a month ago for the Rams trying to get a guy like Cooper Kupp.” There just are not many well-known names. The big names have sort of left already. Davante Adams and Amari Cooper. However, several teams are searching for a wide receiver, such as the Steelers.
The Steelers’ Cooper Kupp trade is a bust.
Sadly for Pittsburgh, despite their 4-4 record, the Rams’ recent run has propelled them to second place in the NFC West. We might have been looking at a team that was willing to part with a starting wide receiver if they had lost their last two games, one to the Seahawks and the other to the Vikings.
It does not matter if the Rams have a good chance of making the playoffs or facing the best teams in the postseason. Sean McVay, the head coach, will not be persuaded to abandon the 2024 campaign.
We would have a squad with a 2–6 season record if their last two games had gone the other way. With this record, the organization would have been able to face reality and put 2025 draft capital ahead of the foolish expectation of running in 2024.
Rather, we can formally remove Cooper Kupp from the Steelers’ final trade board. The Rams will not be sellers this season, but Pittsburgh will be scrambling to find solutions before the deadline of 4:00 p.m. ET on November 5.
