Butler is most aggressive when he commits fouls, attacks from midrange, and attacks inside the paint. His offensive aggression put the Heat within striking distance despite their poor start to the game. When the rest of the squad was struggling, he contributed some crucial production and led the team with 19 points at the half.
Throughout this build, having an aggressive and involved Butler has consistently resulted in victories, and the Sixers game is no exception. As seen primarily by his postseason exploits, where he has improved his game to rank among the league’s best five players over the years, it appears that he picks and chooses when to turn it on for Miami.

His averages of 17.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists across nine games are the lowest of his six-year Heat career, so there is still more work to be done in that area. Regardless of his potential one- to two-year timeframe, it has always been evident that this construct will go as far as he can.
Although the 2024–25 season has shown a similar lack of consistency thus far, a breakthrough could occur at any time with just one or two victories. Butler’s assertiveness has demonstrated that it may put the Heat in the best position to win, so it must happen sooner rather than later if they hope to turn the corner.
