Birmingham City is racking up the games in several competitions, which means additional rescheduling of fixtures later down the road.

Birmingham City’s FA Cup second round victory over Blackpool on Sunday advances them to the third round weekend in January, which means more football for manager Chris Davies to prepare his team for.

The Blues defeated the Tangerines at Bloomfield Road due to goals from Lyndon Dykes and Lukas Jutkiewicz, and they’ll find out who they’ll face in the third round tonight, when Premier League and Championship teams enter the game.

Blues have, remarkably, played 22 matches already this season. There are still 31 games remaining of their League One season, while they’ve gone into the next rounds of both the FA Cup and the EFL Trophy, the latter competition they’re the favourites to win altogether.

The third round of the FA Cup, which will be drawn on Monday evening at 7pm on BBC Two, will be contested over the weekend of January 11th and 12th, with broadcast selections also expected on Friday 10th and Monday 13th. That weekend, Blues are scheduled to play a league game.

As things stand, they are scheduled to host Leyton Orient at St Andrew’s on the 11th; they defeated the Londoners at Brisbane Road in the reverse fixture at the start of the season, but the O’s visit has been postponed due to the weekend’s results; Orient has also advanced to the third round.

The new date for the game is expected to be announced soon, but it will be another game moved for Davies and his teammates to consider. Because to the present amount of internationals in the squad, they have also had to reschedule games scheduled for September, October, and November since the start of the campaign.
