The Indianapolis Colts’ bye week has finally here.
So, 13 games into the 2024 season, which offensive players have received the best marks from Pro Football Focus?
If you’re new here, when I talk about PFF grades, I usually mention that they’re not the be-all-end-all of player evaluation. Although they can be useful for quantifying an individual’s success, they are just one of many measures available and should be regarded accordingly.
But with that said, typically speaking, if a player is performing well, the grades reflect that.
Here is a look at PFF’s grading system to provide some context behind the numbers:
90.0+: Elite
80-89.9: High quality
70-79.9: Good
60-69.9: Above average
50-59.9: Average
40-49.9: Below average
39.9 or less: Poor
WR Josh Downs
PFF grade: 87.8
As the offense has gone through ups and downs in the passing game, Downs has been a consistent presence and, in comparison to the rest of the NFL, one of the more prolific slot receivers. Downs has grabbed 72 percent of his targets for 594 yards and four touchdowns, with 31 of his 53 receptions leading to first downs.
LT Bernhard Raimann
PFF grade: 84.7
Raimann has continuing to build on a successful 2023 season. According to PFF analytics, he has only allowed 12 pressures in 322 pass-blocking snaps and three sacks. Among all tackles, he ranks 19th in pass-blocking efficiency and 15th in run-blocking.
LG Quenton Nelson
PFF grade: 80.7
Nelson has been penalized ten times this season, but he has consistently played well. He’s allowed 15 pressures and one sack on 460 pass-blocking snaps. Nelson is 13th in pass-blocking efficiency among guards and sixth in run-blocking grade.
Of note, Will Fries, who is on injured reserve has a grade of 86.9, while Danny Pinter, who made his 2024 debut this past Sunday, has a grade of 82.9.
Honorable Mentions
WR Alec Pierce: 72.9
TE Drew Ogletree: 70.9
WR Michael Pittman: 70.9
