Simon Milton, a former Ipswich Town player, has offered his “heartfelt thanks” for the expressions of support he has received since becoming ill while watching Sunday’s Premier League match.
Milton, 61, who currently works as a club ambassador, “fell unwell” in the directors’ box during the second half of the 2-1 loss to AFC Bournemouth at Portman Road and was taken to the hospital.
After being discharged, he wrote on Instagram, “Your messages, thoughts, and prayers have meant the world to me.”
“I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for all the unwavering love and support I’ve received from everyone.”
Milton was a midfielder for Ipswich from 1987 to 1998, and he helped the club win promotion back to the top division in 1991-92 under John Lyall.
He went on to play in the Premier League’s debut season.
He stated that he had been resting at home with his family and thanked supporters for “all of your kind words”.
“Please understand I’m unable to respond to everyone as there are hundreds of messages coming in,” according to him.
A previous club statement stated: “Simon is currently stable and communicating. He is in good spirits and will go home to rest.Please respect Simon and his family’s privacy.He’d want to thank the first responders on Portman Road, as well as those who’ve sent their well wishes.
