Jalen Milroe has at least one more game with Alabama football. After playing in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan, he will make an NFL Draft decision and is expected to be a first-round pick if he enters.
That implies he would not compete at Alabama with five-star recruit Keelon Russell. Even so, Milroe had good things to say about the boy, a fellow Texan.
“I like being around him,” Milroe stated of Russell. “I have met him a few times both at the facilities and at the stadium. Cool cat. Every time I get to talk to him, I try to pour into him, because that is the most important thing: being able to talk to someone who has been through the process before. That is what I strive to do for him since I have been here: share my knowledge with him.”
Russell was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year after joining the Crimson Tide. He switched to Alabama after first committed to SMU.Russell was ranked second among quarterbacks in the 2025 class by 247Sports composite.
“He is a special cat,” Milroe explained. “There is a reason he is the number one quarterback in Texas and the country. He is a top recruit because of who he is as a person.”
The redshirt junior also mentioned their common home state.
“He is a Texas child; I am a Texas kid,” Milroe stated. “So having another Texas person in
Alabama will play Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl at 11 a.m. CT on December 31 in Tampa to conclude the season. The game will air on ESPN.
