In Week 15, the Baltimore Ravens thrashed the New York Giants 35–14 at MetLife Stadium.
The Giants dropped to 2-11 and are still in last place in the NFC East, while the Ravens improved to 9-5 on the season and are now in second place in the AFC North. Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Ravens and a serious contender for a third MVP award this season, dominated the defense of the floundering Giants. Jackson gained 290 yards and five touchdowns on 21 out of 25 throws (84%) that he completed. When Jackson recorded his eighth game with five passing touchdowns and four incompletions, he created NFL records.
The 27-year-old quarterback’s accomplishment is certainly cause for celebration, but the Ravens made a historic social media announcement about the former Heisman Trophy winner without first consulting the NFL stat pages.
As the “First QB in NFL history to complete 80% of his passes with 250 passing yards, 5 passing TDs, 0 INTs, and 50 rushing yards,” Jackson was referred to as “1-of-1” by the Raven’s official X account on December 16. The post was quickly accompanied by a community message that said, “Josh Allen did this on January 15th 2022.”
Allen, who is favored to beat Jackson in this year’s MVP competition, hit all those numbers in the Bills’ 47-17 victory against the New England Patriots in the Wild Card playoffs two years ago. On January 15, 2022, Allen completed 21 of 25 throws for 308 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions against the Patriots. In addition, he ran 66 yards six times.

Allen put on a clinic against the Detroit Lions, the top NFC club, while Jackson put on a show against the Giants on Sunday.
