Rafael Nadal’s legacy is nothing short of extraordinary.
He ruled the modern tennis scene alongside rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Injury plagued the latter half of his career. Despite his tremendous resolve to overcome such physical hurdles, the Spaniard was unable to recover a last hip ailment he sustained at the Australian Open in 2022. The Spanish maestro retired after a spectacular two-decade career, but he has not stopped making his fans happy.
Few players have been more generous than Rafael Nadal, both on and off the court, and one of his nice gestures has come to the forefront once more. Alina Korneeva, a Russian junior player, recently spoke out about her unprecedented experience at the ‘Rafa Nadal Academy’.
In an interview with the YouTube channel Bolshe, Korneeva stated, “I’m going to tell a story. When I first arrived at the academy in December, or around the end of November, I saw him and he kissed me. Kissing is fairly prevalent in Spain. I did not cry, but I told my mother that Rafael kissed me! “Do you understand that at all?” However, displaying kind gestures is nothing new for the Spaniards.
In 2020, Nadal was involved in a terrifying event when he accidently hit a girl ball youngster during his second-round match against Federico Delbonis at the Australian Open. Rafa tried to return the Argentine’s serve, but the ball slid in her direction instead. However, the Spaniard hurried over to comfort the ballkid and kissed her. His amusing performance was then shared on the tournament’s official X handle, and it drew applause from fans worldwide.
Nadal attempted a comeback earlier this year but was unable to reestablish his supremacy on the court, and his ambitions of winning a doubles gold medal at the Olympics with countryman Carlos Alcaraz were futile. Exhausted by the disappointing results, the Spanish great felt it was time to retire and reap the benefits of a life away from the sport. On October 10, he announced his probable retirement and ultimately bid farewell at the Davis Cup in Malaga.
Despite his retirement, Rafa is the trending highlight of 2024. Even search engine giant Google verified that.
