Will the Red Sox bring any of the three to town?
The Boston Red Sox made an intriguing move on Friday.
Boston has already signed All-Star Garrett Crochet this offseason and is seeking for another starter to join the mix. The Red Sox have been linked to all of the major names out there, with Corbin Burnes continuously being mentioned as the best remaining free agent on the open market.
While this is the case, the Red Sox added pitching on Friday by signing Patrick Sandoval, a former Los Angeles Angeles veteran. This prompted others to wonder if the Red Sox were done adding pitchers at this stage. But Sandoval is coming off Tommy John surgery, and it’s unclear when he’ll be ready to go in 2025.
According to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe, the Red Sox are still seeking for more pitching after bringing Sandoval to town, and they have contacted Burnes, former Los Angeles Dodgers standout Walker Buehler, and Nick Pivetta.
“While Crochet gives the Sox one of the best arms in the game and Sandoval’s addition mostly deepens the rotation pool for 2026, the Sox remain open to other rotation moves this offseason,” Speier informed reporters. “They have been in contact with free agents such as Corbin Burnes, Walker Buehler, and longtime rotation member Nick Pivetta, while exploring trades even after the acquisition of Crochet.”
Bringing Sandoval to town is a wonderful move with a lot of potential. But hopefully, the squad will make another move. Landing someone like Burnes would propel the team to new heights.
