According to Football Insider, Birmingham City intend to re-sign Nathan Redmond during the January transfer window.
Birmingham are preparing an offer for the forward’s services ahead of next month’s transfer window, and they aim to complete a deal.
Redmond’s contract is set to expire at the conclusion of this season, and Burnley is unlikely to exercise the option for a one-year extension.
The winger has yet to play for Burnley under Scott Parker after returning from a hamstring injury in late November.
Since then, however, the 30-year-old has only been nominated to the squad for three of the possible seven Championship games, as he remains frozen out.
As a result, Burnley are open to bids for his permanent move in January in a last-ditch effort to recoup funds from his departure, rather than letting him go for free.
Birmingham City plot sensational Nathan Redmond return
Redmond joined Burnley on a free transfer from Besiktas in 2023, making 15 appearances in all competitions for Vincent Kompany’s side, 12 of which came in the Premier League.
However, he has been left out in the cold by Parker’s management, and it is widely expected that he will leave Turf Moor in January.
Before joining Norwich in 2013, the winger progressed through St Andrew’s youth, making 82 appearances, scoring nine goals and assisting 11 times.
He is still well-regarded in the West Midlands and would welcome the opportunity to return to his boyhood club at this stage of his career.
Birmingham, meanwhile, are keen to bolster their squad following a record-breaking summer transfer window and are willing to spend again in January.
Chris Davies’ side leads the league after 19 games, and they want to enhance their squad and challenge for promotion in the second half of the season.
