Paul Howard will be the match referee for our League One fixture at home to table-topping Birmingham City on New Year’s Day.

The official has refereed us once already this season, also overseeing our 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers back in August. Overall, he has officiated us on four previous occasions, also overseeing draws with Mansfield Town and Aldershot Town, as well as a 3-0 win at Brackley Town in 2017.

He has also refereed visitors Birmingham earlier this season, in charge for their 1-1 draw at Mansfield Town back in October.

Howard took charge of 38 first-team fixtures across all competitions last season, the majority of which came in League One and League Two. In that time, he issued a total of 135 yellow cards, four red cards and awarded a total of four penalties.

So far in the 2024/25 campaign, he has refereed a total of 14 fixtures ranging from League One to the National League, showing 49 yellows, one red and awarding three penalties to date. His most recent fixture came on Boxing Day, as he oversaw Wycombe Wanderers’ 3-0 win away at Stevenage.

The Assistant Referees on Wednesday will be Mark Cunliffe and Lewis Raper, whilst Richard Aspinall will be on Fourth Official duties.
