Alford battled ailments that held him out for the majority of the previous two seasons, but he showed promise as a freshman in 2022, making 40 total tackles in 278 snaps of activity.
Alford, a 3-star prospect from Park City, received First Team 4A All-State accolades as a junior running back in 2020 after rushing for 1,020 yards and seven touchdowns, as well as two more receiving scores.
Alford, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 245 pounds, joins a talented BYU linebacker group that features standouts Isaiah Glasker, Jack Kelly and Harrison Taggart.
He won’t start for the Cougars in 2025, but with three seasons of eligibility remaining, Alford is positioned to provide crucial, immediate depth while also developing into a key contributor at linebacker in the future.
