The Green Bay Packers are coming off a poor end to the 2024 season and the result has prompted to a few adjustments to Matt LaFleur’s staff after the year ended.
Quarterbacks coach Tom Clemens announced his retirement immediately after the Packers were eliminated and offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich auditioned for the same post for the Seattle Seahawks. But Packers supporters’ worst fears may have been realized when it was confirmed that Luke Getsy will return to the team next season.
According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Luke Getsy will return to the Green Bay Packers as a senior offensive assistant next season. However, his job title may change depending on the future of Stenavich, who is still employed as the Packers’ offensive coordinator but does not have play-calling responsibilities like LaFleur.
This could be a troubling scenario for Packers fans. Getsy began his NFL career as the Packers’ offensive quality control coach in 2014 and spent seven seasons working his way up to quarterbacks coach, including a one-year stint at Mississippi State in 2018. He has spent the last three seasons as an offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders, but those stints did not go well before the Raiders fired him in the middle of last season.
The ideal scenario for Green Bay would be for Getsy to work at the lower ranks of the coaching staff. However, there is a real probability that he may ascend to the top and assist the Packers return to NFC contention in 2025.
