This milestone night honors remarkable athletes, coaches, and community leaders who make a difference, including Seahawks President Chuck Arnold, Marshawn Lynch, Jordan Babineaux, and Kam Chancellor.

The weekly John Schneider Show

During this week’s Seattle Sports John Schneider Show, the Seahawks’ general manager/president of football operations discussed scouting, the pay cap, and his thoughts on the offensive guard position.

Schneider stated that guards are “very vital and highly regarded.” However, due to a lack of potential at the position, we continue to overpay and over-draft at that position.”

Schneider continued, “The concept is not that we are not going to overpay (guards). We will probably do it because we have to, right? However, you must use caution when making such selections. So, will we overpay a guard and miss out on a defensive tackle? No, we would rather pay the player we believe is the better talent. It is similar to drafting for need during the draft.

“We would rather pay the player who we believe is a better talent.”

The Seahawks own the No. 18 overall selection in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft, which is just over two months away. Last year, with their first-round choice, the Seahawks picked Byron Murphy II. National media members in this edition of the mock draft tracker have Seattle picking anything from a quarterback to a linebacker.
