Several star players have entered the transfer portal this offseason in search of better opportunities, and some of these moves have surprised many fans. One notable player is Carson Beck, the former quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs. Heading into the 2024 season, Beck was regarded as one of the top NFL prospects. This past year, he threw for 3,485 yards, along with 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, which led him to initially declare for the NFL draft. However, nearly two weeks later, Beck decided to withdraw his name from the draft. Instead of returning to Georgia, he chose to enter the transfer portal and ultimately signed with the Miami Hurricanes.
During “The Paul Finebaum Show,” SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum said he believed Beck’s decision was a wise one. “I think Carson Beck made a really good decision,” Finebaum said. “It just felt like he was done at Georgia. There was a disconnect there for whatever reason. I think he’ll do well.” Beck’s new team just completed its best season since 2017, largely thanks to quarterback Cam Ward, who transferred from Washington State for this past season. Ward had an impressive year, throwing for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions. Because of his outstanding performance, he is regarded as one of the top NFL prospects in the upcoming draft. Beck will hope to replicate that success in Miami in 2025.
