Following the departure of special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach Mike Ekeler to Nebraska, Heupel has promoted Levorn “Chop” Harbin to outside linebackers coach. Additionally, Evan Crabtree, previously serving as a special teams analyst, has been elevated to special teams coordinator. In a move to retain key defensive staff, Tennessee has extended the contracts of defensive backs coach Willie Martinez and head strength coach Kurt Schmidt. Martinez’s contract has been extended through the 2026 season, maintaining his annual salary at $540,000. Schmidt’s deal has been extended for one year, keeping his salary at $475,000. Notably, defensive coordinator Tim Banks has received a raise, with his salary increasing to $2.15 million through the 2027 season .
