Cardiff City are dealing with a growing injury crisis ahead of their critical Championship match against Derby County, with key players Aaron Ramsey and Jesper Daland out.

The Rams will make a difficult trip to the Bluebirds, who are having trouble starting the Championship this year. The most recent setback occurred when Ramsey injured his hamstring while playing for Wales in the international arena, adding to the growing list of players out for the club.

During Wales’ 2-0 victory over Montenegro, Ramsey—who had struggled with injuries for the most of the previous season—was forced to leave the field after just 20 minutes. Due to a hamstring injury, one of the Bluebirds’ most seasoned midfielders will not be playing for the Bluebirds on Saturday when they go to Pride Park.

Ramsey will not play in the forthcoming game, according to Cardiff City manager Erol Bulut, however it is yet unclear how serious his injury is.

Bulut stated at a press conference, “We will miss him for the Derby game.” “During the final national game against Montenegro, he played for 20 minutes and experienced hamstring strain.” He currently needs some time.

Bulut is optimistic that Ramsey’s injury is not a long-term problem, even though the team has not established a precise recuperation schedule. Although we will have to wait for the complete medical report, I hope it is nothing catastrophic. On Saturday, he will not be with us, Bulut continued.

After rejoining Cardiff City from Nice in the summer of 2023, the 33-year-old Ramsey has had difficulty avoiding injuries ever since joining his childhood team. Due to a knee injury that caused him to miss a substantial portion of the previous season, this new setback has left Cardiff without one of their most important players as they attempt to win their first Championship.

Jesper Daland, a defender from Norway, has also been ruled out of Cardiff along with Ramsey. After joining in the summer from Cercle Bruges in Belgium, Daland suffered a leg injury on August 31, when Cardiff lost 2-0 at home to Middlesbrough. As a result, he was unable to go with Norway to their Nations League matches against Kazakhstan and Austria.

Bulut gave an update on Daland’s health, stating that the defender is still recuperating. “Due to his leg injury from the previous game, he is still wearing a boot, hence he did not join the Norway squad.” By Friday, he will be off of the boot and able to start light training. I hope he returns to full training soon,” Bulut remarked.

Cardiff City will need to make changes as they look for a way to salvage their season because both Daland and Ramsey are out. The injuries will only make the Bluebirds’ task harder as they prepare to take on Derby County away from home, where they have failed to win the Championship this season.

Joe Ralls, the captain of Cardiff City, has been cleared to play again, which is good news. Ralls, who had been out due to groin and hip problems, is expected to give Bulut more alternatives in the midfield this weekend.

Bulut affirmed, “Joe Ralls trained with us and will be available.” He is a leader both on and off the field in his role as captain. Having him back on the team is always encouraging.

Ralls, who was sidelined for the last two games due to injury, resumed full training earlier this week and is anticipated to be a major contributor to the match on Saturday. His comeback will provide Cardiff City much-needed leadership and experience in what should be a tough game.

The timing of Cardiff City’s injury issues could not be worse. In particular, Ramsey’s absence is a huge setback for Erol Bulut’s team because the Bluebirds’ play greatly depends on his skill and experience in the middle. The strain is on the club as they attempt to secure their first victory of the year, and the absence of important players like Daland and Ramsey only makes matters worse.

Although Joe Ralls’ comeback is encouraging, Cardiff’s overall injury issue begs concerns about the depth of their squad and their ability to handle the demands of the Championship. The way they handle this challenging time could make or break their season.
