JUST IN: Blazers completed the best trade ever!

The Portland Trail Blazers appear to have added Deni Avdija as a solid player.
Even though Deni Avdija has not played in a game for the Portland Trail Blazers yet, it is exciting to think about him sharing the court with the team’s younger players. Some people are thrilled about the possibility of Avdija blending in with the Blazers, including Bleacher Report writer Grant Hughes.

After careful deliberation, it appears that the Portland Trail Blazers were correct to trade Deni Avdija to the Washington Wizards for No. 14 Malcolm Brogdon and a 2029 first-round selection—the second-most attractive pick among their own, Boston or Milwaukee.

For a rebuilding team like Portland, giving up a first-round pick now, a potential one later, and a player in Brogdon who could have been traded for a third seemed silly at first. However, Avdija is only 23 years old, made a breakthrough as a shooter last season, plays good defense, is a skilled connector passer, and is now on a contract that will only pay him $55 million over the course of the next four years.

He is the ideal fit for the group, the schedule, and the money.

Avdija, 23, played for the Washington Wizards last season, averaging 14.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. However, he might be in line for even higher stats in his debut campaign with the Blazers.

Avdija will be given every opportunity to blend in with this group, though there is no guarantee he will as the Blazers try to determine which players will stick around Portland or not.
