BREAKING: Former Pittsburgh Steelers standout player signs with the Seattle Seahawks

NFL

Artie Burns, a former first-round choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers, was added to the Seattle Seahawks active roster on Thursday before their game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Burns has spent the last three seasons with the Seahawks, but this is his first game as a player this season.

Pete Carroll was the Seahawks’ head coach when Burns joined, but Mike Macdonald, the new one, has kept Burns on the team because of his man coverage abilities.

In his two tackles and one pass breakup against the 49ers, he largely played special teams but occasionally filled in on defense.

Burns, a Miami (FL) native and first-round selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2016, played for the organization for four seasons before Pittsburgh declined his fifth-year option and allowed him to become free agency.

Despite totaling 195 tackles during his career, he has only had four interceptions. Burns spent two seasons with the Chicago Bears after leaving the Steelers.
