Due to a knee injury, Atlanta Falcons linebacker Troy Andersen will miss his second straight game, the team’s coach Raheem Morris announced on Friday.

For the Falcons (3-2), who take on the home Carolina Panthers (1-4) on Sunday, Andersen, 25, did not practice this week.

On October 3, he was also absent from Atlanta’s 36-30 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After his most recent game, a 26-24 victory over the New Orleans Saints on September 29, Andersen was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. In the second quarter, he not only recorded 17 stops but also made his first career interception, returning it 47 yards for a touchdown.

Later, in the fourth quarter, he was hurt during a special teams play.

Inside linebacker Nate Landman (calf/quad) of the Falcons is designated as questionable for Sunday’s game. Landman began his 21-day window on Wednesday to rejoin the 53-man active roster. This week, he did not participate as much.

Andersen has 44 tackles in four games this season, three of which he has started. During his career, he has played in 23 games (10 starts), collected 132 tackles, five tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, and one interception. He sustained a pectoral/shoulder injury in 2023, which kept him out of all but two games.

In the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Andersen was chosen by the Falcons from Montana State.
