BREAKING NEWS: Ravens Sign Another Veteran Defensive Tackle to Practice Squad

NFL

Josh Tupou, a defensive tackle, has returned to the Ravens’ practice squad.

The Ravens signed 30-year-old Tupou in May, but as part of the team’s last roster cuts in August, he was cut.

Over the course of six seasons and 65 games, Tupou recorded 86 career tackles, six tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and two sacks while playing with the Cincinnati Bengals. He made one start and recorded 29 tackles in 14 games as a member of Cincinnati’s defensive line rotation last season.

Injuries have plagued Baltimore’s defensive line. During the first half of Sunday’s 29-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns, defensive end Brent Urban (concussion) and defensive tackle Michael Pierce (calf) left the game and did not come back. Travis Jones, a defensive tackle, was limited in practice last week and only played 15 snaps.

Against Cleveland, the Ravens were shorthanded up front, so defensive tackle Broderick Washington played a season-high 61% of defensive snaps and Nnamdi Madubuike played a career-high 86%.
