These three Bruins could be players to watch in the trade market.
Things are not improving, either. Their most recent game was a 5-1 loss to the rebuilding Columbus Blue Jackets. They’ve now dropped three consecutive games.
It’s clear that the Bruins could use a huge move right now. However, due to restricted cap space, the Bruins would most likely need to trade an NHL roster member to acquire a noteworthy asset. Because of this, NHL insider David Pagnotta identified Charlie Coyle, Pavel Zacha, and Morgan Geekie as potential trade assets for the Bruins.
Coyle has a $5.25 million cap hit until the end of the 2025-26 season and an eight-team no-trade list. After setting career highs of 25 goals and 60 points last season, the 32-year-old has four goals, one assist, and a minus-10 rating through 20 games this season.
Zacha, like Coyle, has had a poor start to the season. In 20 games, he has only three goals and seven points. He would be more than just a rental for any interested clubs, since he carries a $4.75 million cap hit until the end of the 2026–27 season. He also has a no-trade list that includes ten teams.
Geekie has had a terrible start to the season, with one goal, three assists, and a minus-7 rating in 15 games. He has also been scratched many times. This is obviously a step in the wrong direction for Geekie, who set career highs with 17 goals, 22 assists, and 39 points previous season. He has a $2 million cap hit this season and is set to become a restricted free agent.
