David Pastrnak didn’t hold back after practice on Wednesday.
The Boston Bruins fired Jim Montgomery as head coach on Monday night, one day after losing 5-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets at the TD Garden. He was replaced on a temporary basis by Joe Sacco, who will be in charge of turning the club around in 2024-25 for the time being.
On Wednesday, he led his first on-ice practice as coach of the Black and Gold. Following the session at Warrior Ice Arena, the media got their first chance to speak with the players since Montgomery’s firing. David Pastrnak was one of the players who spoke with the media, and the Bruins’ leading scorer had a message for both him and his teammates.

The Bruins have underperformed this season, there is no disputing it. Even players, like as Elias Lindholm, confessed it earlier this week. When a coach is sacked, it is typically the first domino to fall before further adjustments are implemented. Pastrnak has been around long enough to realize that one of the reasons Montgomery was let go was due to the manner he and his teammates played. After practice, he prepared a message for the room he was in.
“The pride to wear this jersey is to go higher,” Pastrnak stated.
The Boston Bruins’ culture is frequently discussed, but it is now being tested. So far this season, they have shown little consistency, save for inconsistency. Nothing has gone right, and the record reflects this.
To be honest, Boston is fortunate to be within striking distance of a postseason berth for the time being, and Sacco has been assigned the task of immediately turning things around. Some players tend to take wearing the Spoked-B for granted, and Pastrnak is sending a loud and clear message to his teammates.
