According to James Boyd of The Athletic, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman suffered what he described as a minor shoulder injury in Sunday’s loss to the Detroit Lions.
Pittman told reporters on Monday that the shoulder was a re-aggravation of a previous injury, but he does not feel it will prevent him from moving forward.
Pittman got the injury during the first quarter of the game. On a third-and-8 during the Colts’ second drive of the game, Pittman caught a ball on a crossing route for nine yards and moved the chains. However, during the tackle, it appeared that he fell on his shoulder.
Pittman stated on Monday that he walked into the locker room and they “put some stuff in there to help me finish the game.”
In addition to Pittman’s comments on Monday, his performance against the Lions was another indication that he will be alright. Pittman would have his most productive game in several weeks, catching 6-of-7 passes for 96 yards, four of which resulted in first downs.
Pittman has been dealing with a back issue for the whole of the season, in addition to the shoulder injury suffered on Sunday. Pittman has previously stated that his status varies often week-to-week due to a longstanding back issue, and that it is determined by how he feels.
After missing the Colts’ Week 10 game against Buffalo, Pittman has played the last two weeks, including all three sessions last week.
The Colts appear to be shorthanded at receiver for the upcoming game, with Josh Downs apparently a “long shot” to play due to a shoulder injury, according to Ian Rapoport.
