A Bruins’ first-year forward was named to Sweden’s 4 Nations Face-Off roster for the February tournament.
It’s hard to think that the tournament is only two months away, and the rosters for each country are already being announced. Sweden unveiled their roster on Wednesday, which includes a first-year Boston Bruins center.
Bruins forward Elias Lindholm named to Sweden’s 4 Nations Face-Off roster
Elias Lindholm, one of Boston GM Don Sweeney’s two major free agent signings this summer, has struggled to start his career with the Black and Gold. He has three goals and ten helpers in 27 games heading into Wednesday night’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks, which is deemed disappointing.
While he has struggled in Boston, he was picked to Sweden’s 4 Nations Face-Off roster on Wednesday and will participate in the tournaments in Montreal and Boston. Sweden’s roster is talented, and includes the following forwards:
Viktor Arvidsson (Edmonton Oilers), Jesper Bratt (New Jersey Devils), Leo Carlsson (Anaheim Ducks), Joel Eriksson Ek (Minnesota Wild), Filip Forsberg (Nashville Predators), William Karlsson (Vegas Golden Knights), Adrian Kempe (Los Angeles Kings), Elias Lindholm (Boston Bruins), William Nylander (Toronto Maple Leafs), Gustav Nyquist (Nashville Predators), Elias Pettersson (Vancouver Canucks), Lucas Raymond (Detroit Red Wings), and Mika Zibanejad (New York Rangers).
While Lindholm’s time off is undoubtedly beneficial, participating in this competition lets him to continue playing in an attempt to find his game. It would be preferable if he discovered his game before the event. Sweden boasts a loaded forward group that will be difficult for opposing teams to defend.
