Breaking: Michigan QB enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Sport

Jayden Denegal, quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines, has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Denegal got little game play in 2023, tossing for 50 yards and a touchdown on four of his five attempts. He saw no action during the 2024 campaign under Sherrone Moore.

Jayden Denegal was a three-star football prospect at Apple Valley High School in California. He was the No. 494 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which is a weighted average of all four major recruiting media firms.

Where Jayden Denegal ends up remains to be seen, but he’ll undoubtedly be looking for more burn wherever he goes.

Furthermore, Michigan will suddenly be without a quarterback as Jayden Denegal enters the portal. He will miss Michigan’s postseason game versus Alabama in the ReliaQuest postseason.

Continuing, Michigan concluded the season 7-5, defeating rivals Michigan State and Ohio State before winning 13-10 in Columbus. Making a bowl game was not the aim this year, but head coach Sherrone Moore stated weeks ago that it was vital for the development of the team and its younger players.

“I think it’s huge,” Moore said. “It’s huge for the program to play another game and have another opportunity to play with your teammates. Investing in future practices is crucial for young players, similar to spring ball.

“It’s more football for the guys that keep getting better at football, so it’s huge for us and huge for the program.”
