Chiefs Gifted Perfect WR Just Before Playoffs

NFL

The Kansas City Chiefs may have a chance to add another wide receiver.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 12-1 this season and continue to find ways to win on game days. No matter what adversity comes their way, Kansas City remains composed and wins.
The Chiefs have had numerous challenges this season, including repeated injuries to key contributors. They recently returned running back Isiah Pacheco from injury, but have not had the same success at wide receiver.

Rashee Rice is out for the season with a knee injury, while Marquise Brown may be able to return in the playoffs from a sternoclavicular shoulder joint injury, but there are no guarantees.

Kansas City re-signed Juju Smith-Schuster and traded for DeAndre Hopkins to strengthen its wide receiver core. That has already paid off, but on Tuesday, they were given the ideal depth option before the playoffs begin.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots have waived wide receiver K.J. Osborn. It was a mutual decision, as he had played zero snaps in four of his last five games.

Late last week, the Chiefs placed WR Mecole Hardman on injured reserve, prompting the signing of Nikko Remigio to the active roster.

Given the Chiefs’ WR injury history this season, bringing in Osborn may be a good decision. It depends on whether he clears waivers, but the Chiefs should look into bringing him in if possible.

Osborn is a good alternative for WR3/4 if needed. The 27-year-old possesses strong hands and would provide the offense with another playmaker capable of opening things up. Throughout his career, the Miami product has 165 receptions for 1,902 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. From 2021 to 2023, he accumulated more than 500 yards and at least three touchdowns with the Minnesota Vikings.

His production dropped this year, although most of that was due to the Patriots offense.

The Chiefs are pursuing history, so adding another offensive weapon should be a consideration. GM Brett Veach isn’t afraid to make in-season trades, and this might be another one if the chance presents itself.
