Myles Pollard, a junior cornerback for the Michigan Wolverines, has told On3’s Pete Nakos that he intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Pollard played three seasons for the Maize and Blue and has two years of eligibility remaining.
Pollard participated in only ten games over the last three seasons and has spent his whole career as a backup.
The 6-foot-1, 194-pounder made one tackle in six games in 2024. He played only 16 defensive snaps in three games, with the remainder of his time spent on special teams. He was targeted three times in coverage and allowed three receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown.
He appeared in two games on defense in 2023, recording one tackle. Michigan won the national championship with a 15-0 record and was crowned Big Ten champions for the third consecutive season.
He appeared in two games in 2022, keeping his redshirt.
Pollard, a Brentwood (Tennessee) Ravenwood product, was a three-star recruit for the 2022 class. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, he was the 584th overall player and 56th cornerback in the country.
Michigan has only six cornerbacks on the roster with remaining eligibility, including junior Will Johnson, who is a predicted NFL Draft candidate and will most likely go on to the next level. The Wolverines did, however, sign two cornerbacks in the 2025 recruiting class: Shamari Earls and Jayden Sanders, both top-100 prospects.
Michigan and all college football teams must reconsider how they will build their rosters. The new roster cap of 105 players will go into force for the 2025 season, forcing teams to eliminate players.
“It’s really just the spots,” Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore explained. “When you’re above a certain number, you have to tell guys they have to leave, even if you don’t want to. So, it is the difficult aspect of what has been done with the roster limit, particularly at this time.
“We are done at 105 right now. You have to tell walk-ons and scholarship players that they must leave and find another place. However, you should strive to assist them as much as possible because you do not want them to be alone. So the important thing is to give them a cushion because the 105 will begin to fall. So give them a cushion until then.”
