The Chiefs have already lost their first coach in what could be a busy winter for hires.
Given the level of coaching continuity and the fact that they are poised to win their third Super Bowl in a row, it stands to reason that the Kansas City Chiefs may face significant personnel and coaching staff losses.
The bleeding may have already begun, since one of their own assistant coaches was hired away with one month remaining in the regular season.
Terry Bradden will reportedly be named the University of Nebraska’s next defensive line coach, joining Matt Rhule’s staff. Bradden has spent the most of the past decade as a part of the Chiefs coaching staff.
Bradden is the Chiefs’ assistant defensive line coach, reporting to Joe Cullen as a member of Steve Spagnuolo’s defensive staff. Given that Cullen only received a contract extension last year, it stands to reason that Bradden may seek to move outside of the organization to advance if he perceives a lack of possibilities in the current coaching tree.
Bradden replaces Terrance Knighton as Nebraska’s defensive line coach, who left for the same position at Florida State for the 2025 season. Bradden was a graduate assistant at Bethune-Cookman before joining the Chiefs in 2017.
