The Oklahoma Sooners’ defensive interior was one of the team’s strengths in 2024.
Damonic Williams, Da’Jon Terry, Gracen Halton, and Jayden Jackson created a solid rotation that helped the Sooners become one of the nation’s finest run defenses this season.
With Terry leaving for the NFL, the Sooners are trying to strengthen their rotation and have extended an offer to transfer portal defensive lineman David Blay. Blay stated that Oklahoma had made an offer on X.
Blay led the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to 6.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss in 2024. He also had 46 total tackles for a defense that ranked 20th in the country in scoring. Blay ranked 12th among collegiate defensive tackles in PFF’s “stops” statistic.
Blay made six total tackles, two for loss, and had a sack against Arkansas. In week two against North Carolina State, the talented defensive tackle recorded two total tackles and one tackle for loss.
Blay, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 303 pounds, has the size to play interior for an SEC defense and would be a valuable addition to the Sooners’ defensive tackle rotation.
