Anthony Richardson, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback, has had an up-and-down season, but he created franchise history against the Tennessee Titans in Week 16.
Richardson became the Colts quarterback with the most single-season running yards in team history, surpassing Mike Pagel (441 in 1983) with a seven-yard dash in the first quarter.
The second-year quarterback has struggled this season, having been benched in the middle of the season in favor of Joe Flacco.
While Richardson has had some improved performances since being benched, his uneven accuracy remains a key issue for Shane Steichen’s offensive.
Having saying that, his rushing ability is one of the reasons he has a high ceiling. Since his benching, the Colts have begun to use him more as a runner in a streamlined package, but his troubles as a passer prevent the entire offense from functioning consistently.
The Colts don’t appear to be making a quarterback change this summer, but anything can happen in the NFL.
The Colts are theoretically still in playoff contention, but their odds of making the postseason are slim. Richardson’s future is uncertain, but if he can continue to move the offense with his legs, it may help alleviate some of the issues in the air.
