The Indianapolis Colts are hard at work preparing their roster for a trip to face the Giants.
The Indianapolis Colts have added lineman Atonio Mafi to their practice squad ahead of another must-win game against the New York Giants.
Mafi has been with Indianapolis, but he began his career as a 2023 fifth-round pick of the New England Patriots. Mafi started five games for New England last year and has appeared in three games for the Colts this season. Mafi’s signing to the practice squad came on the same day that Mark Glowinski was promoted to the active roster, forcing the move for Mafi.
Mafi is only for in-depth analysis, but we’ll see if Glowinski can do better against his former squad, the Giants. While he was a competent fill-in against the Patriots in Week 13, Glowinski struggled in the win over the Tennessee Titans, registering an unsightly Pro Football Focus blocking grade of 35.9 and 42.6 for run-blocking. Glowinski must improve to benefit Shane Steichen’s scheme and quarterback Anthony Richardson.
While the Colts defeated the Titans 38-30 at home, they won’t get much rest before another crucial game on the road to keep their fragile playoff hopes alive. Mafi may not be the most important addition, but he must be available at all times in case he is called up.
The Colts face the 2-13 Giants at MetLife Stadium on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST, and there is a lot at stake for them.
