This offseason, the Atlanta Braves have made no marquee additions.
However, they require an upgrade at shortstop and may make a deal for one of the finest in the league.
Bo Bichette, a Toronto Blue Jays star, will be a free agency next offseason. FanSided’s Zach Pressnell offered the following trade that sends him to the Braves:
- Braves receive: shortstop Bo Bichette
- Blue Jays receive: shortstop Nach Alvarez Jr., right-handed pitcher Bryce Elder and left-handed pitcher Dylan Dodd
Bichette had a bad year in 2024, but that version of him could be adequate for the Braves. At his peak, he was a two-time All-Star who twice led the American League in hits.
“All in all, the Braves need to add a talented infielder and Bichette has the potential to be an All-MLB shortstop again,” tweeted Pressnell. “At worst, he’s about comparable to Orlando Arcia. At best, he’s one of the best shortstops in the league.”
The Braves anticipated Orlando Arcia would expand on his All-Star performance in 2023. Instead, his OPS decreased from.741 to.625. He blasted 17 home runs again, although he only had 46 RBIs for the season.
Bichette signed a three-year contract worth $33 million in 2023. With his free agency looming and little possibility of convincing him to stay, the Blue Jays may attempt to deal him for any return. Bichette could replace Arcia, giving the Braves an excellent infield core of Austin Riley, Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies and Bichette.
