West Coast coach Andrew McQualter has taken a cheeky swipe at his former side, suggesting he has extra motivation to beat Richmond on Sunday.
A long-time assistant at the Tigers, McQualter was the caretaker coach for the club when Damien Hardwick stood down in the middle of the 2023 season.
McQualter led Richmond to seven wins from 13 games but was overlooked for the full-time role in favour of Adem Yze
The winless Eagles will head to the MCG on Sunday to tackle the Tigers in arguably their best chance to finally grab four points this season.
Asked if he wanted to beat Richmond after being snubbed for the coaching gig, McQualter said: “Absolutely’”.
